Every year on World Refugee Day we honor all those forced to flee their homes. Zyad, Souzan, and their four children who fled the civil war in Syria are among more than 110 million refugees worldwide. “When you realize you’re not going back, you feel like you’ve lost everything you’ve built in your life,” Zyad said. His family moved to the US this year through a sponsorship program from Welcome Corps and the Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services.
