What happens when two accomplished musicians find each other during a global pandemic? @barlowandbear , that’s what. Four years ago, @abigailbarloww (Abigail Barlow) and @mlebear (Emily Bear) were strangers, and today they’re a Grammy award-winning, musical score-composing duo who’ve found a deep connection over their shared creativity and passion for telling stories through music. Their latest endeavor is one of childhood dreams manifested — writing and composing the score for @disneyanimation ’s “Moana 2,” which releases today in theaters worldwide. 🌺🌊🐚 “This partnership and creating music together became one of the most important things in my life,” says Abigail. “I realized that creating is all I wanted to do.” “I think showing your growth is so important because we’re not going to be brave and amazing and inspiring all the time,” says Emily. “We’re going to have our moments. “Moral of the story: shoot your shot, send that DM and follow that person.” Japanese creator @kyanlm (Kyan) knows how to make his dreams a reality. To celebrate reuniting with his twin brother @issey.0503 (Issey) in Tokyo, Kyan imagined the perfect day in the city based on some of his favorite Instagram connections. The day (fit for Close Friends only) ranged from getting iconic nail art by @yu_mensnail , to grabbing underground pizza at @pizza_slice_tokyo (Pizza Slice), to visiting fashion designer @verdy (Verdy), whom he originally met in DMs. Kyan’s growing creative community makes it clear that his dreams are right on track and he’s exactly where he’s meant to be. In today’s edition of #10Things , we’re with Argentine artist @trueno (Trueno), who not only performed at last night’s @latingrammys (Latin Grammy Awards) in Miami, but also took home his first-ever Latin Grammy after his song “Tranky Funky” won for best urban fusion/performance. “I think Latin music is at an all-time high. Every country has artists that represent its native culture and native genre,” says Trueno. “I belong to the hip-hop culture and movement. Argentinian hip-hop always has that Argentinian feel and the flavors of South America in the music.” Before Thursday’s big show, Trueno spent time in Miami cooking, playing soccer and preparing for his stellar performance, where he entertained fans and Latin music artists from all over the world. When it comes to collaborating with other artists, Trueno says it all comes down to the DMs. “I think the majority of the international collaborations that I’ve done in my career I was able to make happen thanks to Instagram. I remember huge artists, like J Balvin, for example, DMing me on Instagram, “Hey, I like your music.” And from there we struck up a friendship and connection.” 🎵🔥
